In a statement issued today, Misbah Douma Ouhaida, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, reaffirmed the legislature’s firm rejection of any foreign interference in Libyan internal affairs. He stressed that Libya is a sovereign, independent state with legitimate institutions that represent the will of the Libyan people, and that no external party has the right to influence its decisions or shape its political choices.
Douma noted that the repeated statements made by Greek officials regarding the situation in Libya — including calls to intervene in domestic matters, particularly elections and relations with neighboring countries — constitute a breach of diplomatic norms and an infringement on Libya’s sovereignty.
He emphasized that issues related to maritime boundaries and their associated legal frameworks have been settled under international agreements, and that no external actor has the authority to challenge them or attempt to undermine Libya’s position. He added that some foreign parties are seeking to exploit political divisions within Greece to influence Libya’s internal landscape.
Douma called for an end to what he described as “provocative statements” issued by Greek politicians, stressing that Libya is committed to maintaining balanced relations with friendly and neighboring countries, while firmly rejecting any attempt to undermine its sovereignty or cast doubt on its institutions.
At the conclusion of his statement, the Second Deputy Speaker urged local media outlets to verify information and rely on official sources, reaffirming the House of Representatives’ unwavering stance against any form of foreign interference in Libyan affairs.
