Libya’s blind goalball team has booked its place in the semifinals of the Africa Championship, currently taking place in Egypt, after an impressive start that saw the team take control of the opening two days of group‑stage competition featuring six national teams.
Libya set the tone early with a commanding 16–0 victory over Benin, a match that officials ended prematurely under the mercy rule for competitive imbalance.
The team followed up with another convincing performance, defeating Niger 15–6 to reach six points and move straight to the top of its group.
These results were enough to secure Libya’s place in the semifinals even before playing its final group‑stage match.
The team is scheduled to compete in the semifinal later today, carrying strong momentum and high ambitions for a place on the podium.
