The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, welcomed the successful conduct of the municipal council elections held across a number of Libyan municipalities. Saleh stated that the elections took place within disciplined security and organisational environments, reflecting a high level of responsibility and awareness among citizens.
Saleh praised the significant technical and professional efforts made by the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) during the preparation and execution phases, asserting that the HNEC’s adherence to technical and legal standards contributed to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
The House Speaker also valued the national role played by the Ministry of Interior and security agencies in securing the polling centres and protecting the election process, noting that this secure environment enabled citizens to exercise their electoral rights freely.
Aguila Saleh confirmed that the success of the municipal elections represents a fundamental pillar in local governance and supports administrative decentralisation, thereby empowering municipalities to perform their service and development tasks in line with the aspirations of the Libyan people.
Finally, the Speaker reiterated the House of Representatives’ full support for all upcoming electoral mandates, deeming them the sole constitutional and legal path for renewing legitimacy, achieving political stability, and fostering sustainable development in Libya
