Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed al‑Menfi met with Prosecutor General Counselor Al‑Siddiq Al‑Sour on Tuesday at the Presidential Council headquarters to discuss ways of reinforcing the independence of the judiciary and consolidating the foundations of justice, thereby safeguarding state institutions from political polarization and rivalries.
The meeting was held in the framework of coordination between the executive and judicial authorities to ensure the effective application of the law and the integration of roles in protecting the public interest and national security.
The two sides addressed files related to national security and mechanisms to insulate judicial institutions from political conflict, in addition to measures to strengthen judicial independence and enable the judiciary to carry out its constitutional and legal duties with efficiency and transparency. This included improving the judicial working environment, reinforcing guarantees of fair trial, and shielding the Office of the Attorney General from any influence outside the framework of the law.
