During his meeting with Dr. Mohamed Takala, President of the High Council of State, French Special Envoy to Libya Paul Soler reiterated Paris’s support for the UN‑sponsored political process in Libya. He emphasized the importance of dialogue between institutions and expressed France’s readiness to contribute to strengthening security, stability, and development.
Dr. Takala, for his part, presented the Council’s vision for overcoming political division through a comprehensive consensus path that leads to lasting stability. He stressed the need to hold elections within a constitutional and legal framework that enjoys broad national agreement.
The talks also addressed Libya’s security challenges and ways to consolidate state authority, as well as the economic situation and its impact on citizens’ daily lives. Both sides highlighted the need for reforms that ensure sound resource management and equitable distribution.
The meeting took place at the Élysée Palace in Paris, attended by Libya’s Chargé d’Affaires in France Mohamed Hammouda, along with several council members, including National Security Committee Chairman Jamal Abu Sahmein, and members Othman Madkour, Mona Koukleh, and Fathi Al‑Sharif.
