During the sixth Arab ministerial forum on housing and sustainable urban development in Doha, Abu Bakr Owaidat, Acting Minister of Housing and Reconstruction in Libya, announced the launch of a new national program for housing and real estate investment. He emphasized that this initiative is designed to address the housing crisis and strengthen both spatial and economic development across the country.
In his remarks to Arab housing ministers, Owaidat stressed that the housing and reconstruction sector is a cornerstone for ensuring social stability and advancing Libya’s development trajectory. He explained that the new program forms part of a broader vision by the ministry to revive stalled reconstruction projects and expand real estate investment opportunities.
He also highlighted the “Return of Life” initiative, which includes resuming suspended projects, building modern residential cities, and upgrading infrastructure and essential services. According to Owaidat, these efforts reflect improving conditions in Libya and reinforce the country’s path toward sustainable development.
