The Public Prosecution has launched a wide‑ranging investigation into a case of forgery in civil registry records concerning a woman who passed away in 1978. It was discovered that the data of a foreign national had been fraudulently inserted into the family record under the “children” section, although the woman had no offspring.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, this manipulation enabled the foreigner and his family members to obtain twenty‑four national identification numbers, granting them full citizenship rights without legal basis.
Following notification from the Committee investigating cases of forgery in civil status records, under the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in al‑Bayda, an expanded inquiry was conducted. The investigation revealed the details of the forgery and identified the responsibility of two employees affiliated with the Civil Registry Office in the city of al‑Marj.
Based on the findings, the Public Prosecution ordered the pretrial detention of the two employees pending the case and issued instructions to apprehend all individuals who had used the forged documents, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures against them.
