Intensive field operations launched by the Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) remain underway across the Murzuq Basin. Acting on instructions from the head of the department, Major General Salah Al-Khafeefi, and under the direct supervision of Major General Abdul Rahman Al-Ansari, head of the southern region branch, the forces are executing a comprehensive strategy to pursue organised crime syndicates and eradicate illicit activities.
Raids targeting several suspicious locations over the past few hours have yielded significant results. Security teams successfully dismantled dens used by undocumented migrants for prostitution and other criminal pursuits. Several individuals were apprehended during the raids, while a cache of bladed weapons—including cleavers, daggers, and various sharp implements—was confiscated. Authorities stated these items posed a direct threat to public safety and general order.
Following the complete dismantling of these criminal sites, the authorities initiated legal proceedings against the detainees and processed the seized items, referring them to the competent bodies for further investigation.
The DCIM affirmed that the crackdown will persist, with plans to bolster security checkpoints and expand field sweeps. The department emphasised that the overarching objective remains the imposition of total security control and the elimination of all criminal elements threatening social stability in the Murzuq Basin.
