Libyan weightlifter Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Bukhansi delivered three new gold medals for his country with a stellar performance in the 88kg category at the African Youth Games, adding an honorable achievement to Libya’s sporting record.
Al-Bukhansi secured his gold medals by winning first place in the snatch with a lift of 125kg, the clean and jerk with 151kg, and the total overall with a combined score of 276kg.
This triumph extends Libya’s shining performance in weightlifting, following weightlifter Abdulraouf Al-Kakli’s earlier victory of three gold medals. This brings Libya’s total gold medal count at the African Youth Games to six.
This golden haul highlights the emergence of a promising generation of Libyan weightlifters and their ability to compete on a continental level and ascend the podium.
