The Office of the Prosecutor General in Misrata issued an urgent judicial order to suspend 326 fraudulent national ID numbers issued by the Civil Registry Office in Zamzam, annul all official documents based on them, and arrest the office’s director for legal accountability.
A specialized committee investigating civil registry fraud uncovered a large-scale operation involving falsified family records, which enabled hundreds of individuals to illegally obtain Libyan national ID numbers, granting them citizenship rights and privileges they were not entitled to.
The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that investigations are ongoing to complete legal procedures and pursue all those involved in the case, stressing that these measures reflect a firm stance against civil registry document forgery.
