The Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces stated that the visit of General Asim Munir to Libya marks a moment in bilateral relations and lays the foundation for a new phase of military and strategic partnership between the two countries.
He explained that the meetings focused on strengthening cooperation to confront security challenges, foremost among them terrorism, extremism, and organized crime, as well as developing mechanisms for joint security and intelligence work.
He also highlighted the General Command’s aspiration to launch joint training programs and enhance the efficiency of Libyan personnel by benefiting from Pakistan’s advanced expertise in training and institutional discipline, thereby contributing to the development of the National Army’s defensive capabilities.
The Deputy Commander stressed the importance of keeping pace with modern technological developments, particularly in cybersecurity, drones, and advanced defense systems, affirming that cooperation with Pakistan will enhance readiness and crisis response.
On the economic front, he welcomed Pakistani companies to invest in infrastructure, reconstruction, energy, petrochemicals, and mining projects, noting the availability of promising opportunities and calling for the opening of a consulate in Benghazi and the activation of air and maritime transport between the two countries.
He concluded by affirming that the visit will culminate in the signing of several defense agreements, reflecting the shared will to elevate Libyan–Pakistani relations and serve mutual interests.
