The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that its crisis committee has successfully secured the unconditional release of all Libyan citizens recently detained in the Republic of Chad. This breakthrough followed continuous coordination between the General Command of the Armed Forces, the Libyan Government, security agencies, and the municipal council and elders of Kufra, in direct communication with Chadian authorities.
In this context, the Chadian government, represented by Foreign Minister Dr. Abdallah Saber Fadul, expressed its firm rejection of the illegal actions taken by certain individuals against the Libyan nationals. He reaffirmed Chad’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Libyans on its territory.
The Ministry emphasized that monitoring the welfare of Libyans abroad remains one of its core responsibilities, urging citizens to inform the Ministry when traveling to areas experiencing tensions for their own safety. While confirming that the crisis committee has concluded its mission, the Ministry noted that this incident does not reflect the long-standing fraternal and historical ties between Libya and Chad, adding that communication channels will remain open to serve mutual interests.
