Security forces in Benghazi have launched a major operation to curb illegal migration, resulting in the detention of 249 migrants of various African nationalities. The campaign focused on raiding illegal dens and sites suspected of housing migrants outside the law; these locations were completely evacuated once their violation of established legislation was confirmed.
According to security authorities, all detainees have been transferred to the Greater Benghazi shelter to undergo necessary legal procedures and mandatory medical examinations. Legal action has also been initiated against the owners of the targeted properties. Security sources emphasised that the operation followed a structured plan under direct field supervision, ensuring that all procedures adhered to legal and humanitarian standards to safeguard the rights of those detained.
