A specialised unit within the Tourism Police and Antiquities Protection Authority has successfully dismantled a criminal ring and intercepted an attempt to smuggle a suspected archaeological artifact. The operation was launched after the electronic monitoring department identified a video circulating on Facebook offering the relic for sale, leading investigators to track the primary suspect to the city of Tarhuna.
Following legal coordination with the Public Order Prosecution in Tripoli and field cooperation with the Tarhuna Security Directorate and various regional branches of the authority, a tactical plan was executed. This led to the arrest of three individuals caught in the act. The suspects have since been referred to the Public Order Prosecution in Tripoli to undergo legal proceedings.
