The Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli has launched a voluntary repatriation scheme for citizens wishing to return home, supported by Libya’s Prime Minister GNU, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh. Sudan’s Ambassador, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed al-Tuda, confirmed that the mission has begun compiling lists of returnees and urged citizens to submit their documentation promptly to facilitate logistical and budgetary planning.
The embassy has set 15 January as the final deadline for document submissions. Applicants must provide either a passport, a national ID number, or a birth certificate alongside a personal photograph to obtain emergency travel documents if required. The statement emphasised that the programme is a time-bound and free-of-charge initiative, covering exit visas and domestic transportation from Suakin port to secure states within Sudan.
