The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Al-Taher Al-Baour, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea to Libya, Massa Kaba, on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli. This meeting is a component of the ministry’s strategy to revitalize Libyan diplomacy in the African sphere and explore avenues to elevate relations between the two nations. The discussions sought to expand cooperation across various economic and political sectors, serving mutual interests and reinforcing Libya’s presence and influence within its continental surroundings. This move reflects Libya’s firm desire to build solid partnerships based on mutual respect and shared interests, aligning with the priorities of Libyan foreign policy to remain open and engaged with its African depth.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Baour extended his warm congratulations to Ambassador Kaba on the official commencement of her diplomatic duties in Libya, affirming the ministry’s full readiness to provide all necessary support and logistical facilities to ensure the success of her mission in strengthening the bridges of communication between Tripoli and Conakry. Al-Baour explained that Libya places a special emphasis on developing its partnerships with African nations, viewing the continent as an indispensable strategic, geographical, and cultural anchor. He noted that the current phase requires building balanced relationships that transcend traditional patterns, focusing on the exchange of technical expertise, the enhancement of commercial exchange, and security coordination to face trans-border challenges—all while maintaining full commitment to the principles of national sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.

The meeting also served as a platform to discuss high-level coordination within the African Union. For her part, Ambassador Massa Kaba expressed her deep gratitude for the warm reception, affirming her government’s keenness to nurture historical ties with Libya and intensify ongoing political consultation. She highlighted that such cooperation is vital for addressing shared challenges and achieving the aspirations of both peoples for lasting stability and economic prosperity, noting that Guinea welcomes Libya’s renewed openness toward the continent as a necessary step for strengthening collective African action.
