Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hosted a high-ranking Libyan delegation led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and Prime Minister Osama Hammad. The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office, was notable for its heavy military presence, with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, and Libya’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief, General Saddam Haftar, joining the discussions alongside senior cabinet ministers and strategic advisors.

The talks centred on deepening bilateral synergy and exploring new avenues for cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, ranging from defence to infrastructure development. Following the session, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unwavering commitment” to fostering friendly ties with Libya, underscoring the necessity of sustained political and diplomatic dialogue to navigate regional complexities. The Pakistani leader noted on his official social media channels that the engagement serves the long-term aspirations of both nations for peace and economic growth.
For his part, Field Marshal Haftar praised Pakistan’s regional influence and expressed a desire to broaden the scope of technical and military cooperation. According to state media reports, the two sides reached a consensus on the vital importance of expertise-sharing and enhanced coordination to foster regional stability.
