The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity has officially launched an extensive external training initiative. This program involves dispatching 100 specialized national physicians to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to undergo advanced training. This initiative, implemented under direct government directives, aims to address the critical shortage of rare and highly specialized medical disciplines that have long challenged Libyan hospitals and specialized medical centers. The first group of specialists has already arrived in Amman to begin intensive clinical and academic programs at prestigious, internationally accredited Jordanian medical institutions. These programs are specifically designed to provide advanced practical skills and exposure to the latest diagnostic protocols and complex treatment methodologies currently utilized in global medicine.
This comprehensive governmental vision focuses on long-term investment in national human capital as the fundamental pillar for reforming the health system and achieving a transformative shift in the quality of services provided to citizens. The training program encompasses delicate specialties carefully selected based on the urgent needs of the Libyan health sector, ensuring that cutting-edge knowledge and modern medical technologies are effectively localized upon the doctors’ return. By providing these specialized services domestically, the state aims to systematically reduce the immense costs associated with overseas medical referrals, which have burdened national resources for decades. Furthermore, it seeks to end the hardships faced by Libyan patients forced to travel abroad in search of specialized care. The Ministry emphasizes that the program is governed by rigorous field evaluation and supervision mechanisms to ensure the maximum scientific and practical benefit from these missions. This project is considered the cornerstone of building an integrated and sustainable national healthcare system, powered by world-class Libyan experts capable of keeping pace with the rapid advancements in medical science, research, and modern therapeutic technologies witnessed in leading global health institutions.
