While attending a working breakfast hosted by Liberian President Joseph Boakai in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, called for a vital unification of the continent’s political vision. Speaking before a gathering of African heads of state, former leaders, and AU representatives, al-Menfi emphasized that consolidating a unified stance on regional and global issues is more urgent than ever. He asserted that such solidarity is fundamental for Africa’s bargaining power and safeguards the strategic interests and rights of its people on the international stage.

In a related context, the President focused on the necessity of implementing radical reforms within the United Nations and restructuring international financial institutions to ensure a more equitable and inclusive global governance model. He also demanded a fair and just approach to addressing the challenges of climate change impacting the continent. Al-Menfi highlighted that Africa’s push for UN Security Council reform remains a top priority, grounded in the established principles of the “Ezulwini Consensus” and the “Sirte Declaration,” aiming to secure a decisive African voice in global decision-making processes.
Concluding his remarks, al-Menfi reaffirmed Libya’s steadfast support for all initiatives aimed at merging African efforts into a single, cohesive front to achieve a global system managed through genuine partnership. He explained that the ultimate goal is to fulfill the aspirations of nations for international justice that excludes no one. He underscored Libya’s commitment to collective action under the African Union’s umbrella to reach a United Nations that serves the interests of all peoples with fairness and balance.
