Libyan Human Rights Organization Demands Results, Not Briefings

The Libyan Human Rights Organization issued a statement emphasizing that the Libyan people’s patience has run out, demanding tangible results and genuine commitments rather than merely repeated international briefings and reports. The organization stressed that managing the crisis through periodic sessions without binding steps prolongs political division and deepens citizens’ loss of trust in the seriousness of both local and international parties.

The organization clarified that while the primary responsibility for ending the crisis lies with national forces, the mandate given to the Security Council and the UN mission imposes a legal and moral obligation to support a clear path that ends repetitive transitional phases without reproducing them under new tools or names. It noted that replacing transitional phases with others does not serve stability.

Furthermore, the organization emphasized that any serious international approach must be based on respecting national sovereignty, unifying sovereign and financial institutions, and stopping all spending outside legal frameworks. It called for an immediate transition from consultation to binding results within a specific timeframe, supporting a comprehensive electoral process under full judicial supervision, while maintaining strict neutrality and preventing parallel paths that weaken the official political process.

Warnings of Economic and Social Deterioration

In a related context, the organization warned of the danger of continued economic and social deterioration, including the collapse of purchasing power, shortages of basic services, and the erosion of public trust. It confirmed that this dire situation creates an explosive environment threatening civil peace and regional stability, necessitating swift action to alleviate suffering.

Al-Hur: The UN Path Linking Reconciliation to Human Rights Inspires Cautious Hope

The organization stated: “Libya is not an administrative file to be opened and closed, nor a arena for experimenting with temporary political approaches. It is a sovereign state, and its people deserve a single, unified state, legitimate institutions, and real elections that end all transitional bodies without recycling them.”

The organization concluded by calling on the Security Council to review its policies regarding the Libyan file and correct any paths that contributed to prolonging the crisis. It also demanded that the UN mission fulfill its role in enabling Libyans to reclaim their national decision-making away from any duality or conflict in messages sent to various parties, ensuring all efforts serve the interests of a unified Libya
