Libyan Equestrian and Shooting Federation Launches Vision 2030 for the Development of Both Sports

Benghazi hosted the inauguration of the “2030 Vision for Equestrianism and Shooting” on Friday evening, March 6, 2026. This initiative was held under the patronage of Lieutenant General Bassem Mohammed Al-Buaishi, the Honorary President of the Libyan Equestrian and Shooting Federation. The ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the General Command of the Armed Forces, First Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi, alongside numerous sports enthusiasts. The launch took place during the “Akarem” Ramadan showjumping competition, marking a step toward establishing an institutional framework for the coming years.

The 2030 Vision is centered on creating a foundation for athletic excellence by implementing advanced training methodologies and developing specialized sporting infrastructure according to international standards. The Federation clarified that this initiative will provide young athletes with superior opportunities to hone their skills and compete effectively at regional and international levels. During his address, Lieutenant General Bassem Al-Buaishi emphasized the importance of establishing clear schedules to ensure consistent tournaments throughout the year. He also highlighted the need for nurturing local talent and providing them with the necessary pathways to participate in foreign championships to represent Libya.

The event featured the “Akarem” showjumping match, which saw participation from a diverse group of Libyan riders across various categories, in addition to introductory segments showcasing the sport of shooting and its significance in developing focus and discipline among the youth. Attendees praised the organizational quality of the tournament, noting that it successfully integrated practical sporting experience with the strategic goals of the 2030 Vision. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of symbolic awards to participants.

The 2030 Vision includes establishing advanced training programs and modernizing sports facilities, including specialized arenas for jumping and shooting practice. The roadmap aims to form technical and administrative committees to monitor performance and organize periodic competitions, thereby strengthening Libya’s standing in regional and international arenas. Furthermore, the vision focuses on expanding participation to include all age groups while providing training for beginners. It also incorporates educational components designed to introduce the youth to the historical roots of equestrianism and the cultural heritage of shooting, ensuring a legacy that spans generations.
