Transfer of 105 Illegal Migrants from Sirte to Benghazi Ahead of Repatriation

​The Sirte branch of the Illegal Migration Control Department (IMCD) has transferred 105 irregular migrants of Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationalities to Benghazi detention center. The operation was carried out following instructions from Major General Salah al-Khafeefi, head of the IMCD, and under the supervision of Colonel Muhammad al-Fadil, director of the department’s branches in the Central and Southeastern regions, as part of ongoing nationwide efforts to monitor the status of irregular migrants.

​The department clarified that the migrants were transported from the Sirte facility to Benghazi, where final arrangements for their deportation will be coordinated with relevant authorities using approved mechanisms. According to the IMCD, these operations are part of a broader strategy to manage illegal migration and oversee the status of foreigners within Libya. The department emphasized its commitment to following all legal procedures and upholding humanitarian considerations during both the sheltering and repatriation phases, ensuring that the process remains consistent with international standards and national laws governing the status of migrants.
