Libyan Shooting Federation Strengthens International Standing Under Equestrian and Shooting Vision 2030

The Libyan Shooting Federation continues to solidify its active role within the global framework of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), the world’s governing body for Olympic shooting disciplines and major international championships. This ongoing engagement is a cornerstone of the “Equestrian and Shooting Vision 2030” project, which aims to advance Olympic sports in Libya and cultivate a new generation of champions.

Since 1995, the Libyan Shooting Federation has held official membership in the ISSF, securing full international recognition as the sole legitimate authority for managing and representing the sport within Libya in accordance with international laws and regulations.

This membership provides several strategic advantages, including legal representation of the ISSF in Libya and the right to organize official tournaments and technical courses for referees and coaches under international oversight. Furthermore, it enables Libyan athletes to participate in World Championships and Olympic qualifiers, while granting the federation a seat at the ISSF General Assembly meetings.

Shooting stands out as a sport that has successfully achieved Olympic qualification for Libya, a milestone that reflects the sport’s prestigious history and its competitive standing on the international stage.

To enhance technical expertise, Libya hosted two international refereeing courses with participants from various nations. The first session took place in Tripoli in 2024, followed by a second edition in Benghazi in 2025.

In continuation of these efforts, preparations are currently underway to host an international coaching course for rifle and pistol shooting in Tripoli this coming November. This move is designed to certify national coaches according to global standards and elevate the overall level of the sport in the country.

All these initiatives align with the “Equestrian and Shooting Vision 2030,” which focuses on developing the sport’s infrastructure, expanding the participation base, and ensuring a powerful Libyan presence in regional and international arenas to produce world-class athletes
