The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity has officially released the detailed findings of the second week of its strategic “100-Day Plan,” aimed at overhauling the national healthcare sector. The latest statistics demonstrate a significant spike in the volume of medical services provided across various facilities, with the total number of beneficiaries exceeding 63,000 citizens. This surge serves as a clear indicator of the initial success of the government’s urgent interventions to enhance the quality of public health services and expand accessibility for citizens.

According to the weekly report issued by the Ministry’s Office of Information and Health Education, primary healthcare centers and local dispensaries—the bedrock of the national health system—handled 11,302 cases. Patients at these facilities received diverse medical screenings and routine follow-ups. The Ministry emphasized that revitalizing these centers is a top priority within the 100-Day Plan, as they play a vital role in treating minor to moderate conditions, thereby alleviating the heavy burden on major public hospitals and ensuring a more efficient patient flow across the medical network.

In Tripoli, polyclinics proved to be a critical component in managing high patient volumes. Seven major polyclinics included in the report treated approximately 25,112 cases during the second week alone. Services ranged from specialized consultations to laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging. By providing high-quality specialized care outside of the main hospital setting, these clinics have effectively reduced wait times and streamlined the patient experience, aligning with the Ministry’s broader roadmap to restore public confidence in state-run healthcare institutions.

At the hospital level, general and specialized facilities admitted a total of 26,924 cases, offering advanced care and emergency response. The report highlighted the successful execution of 525 surgical operations across various medical disciplines, a move specifically targeted at reducing long waiting lists and localizing surgical treatments. Furthermore, hospitals recorded 1,074 inpatient admissions, where patients received intensive monitoring and treatment under the supervision of medical teams working within the Ministry’s strategy to increase the operational readiness of all health facilities.

The Ministry of Health concluded its statement by affirming that these tangible results are the product of continuous monitoring and seamless coordination between various departments. Efforts remain focused on securing a steady supply of essential medicines and medical equipment while rehabilitating aging infrastructure. The Ministry underscored that the 100-Day Plan is not merely about quantitative data but focuses on improving the quality of care and addressing systemic gaps. It pledged to continue issuing weekly progress reports to maintain transparency and keep the public informed of the milestones achieved in building a robust and responsive health system for all Libyans.
