Libyan reciter Mohamed Fouad Salem Al-Qahwaji, from Zliten, secured the first-place position in the full Quran memorization category at the Sheikh Ibrahim Niass International Quran Award held in Senegal. The competition featured 156 participants representing approximately 40 countries, who competed through rigorous preliminary and final stages. Al-Qahwaji’s victory came after intense competition with elite memorizers from across the globe, successfully placing Libya at the forefront of this international Islamic event.

The Quranic Complex in Libya attributed this achievement to the specialized training and capacity-building programs Al-Qahwaji attended over the past two years. These scientific programs, organized by the Complex in collaboration with the Association of Quran Carriers and Reciters, aim to refine the skills of memorizers and prepare them for international stages. The Complex stated that this win reflects the vitality of Libya’s Quranic movement and its wealth of talent in memorization and recitation, expressing pride in this accomplishment, which adds to Libya’s distinguished record in global Quranic competitions.
