The details of the incident emerged when a local citizen filed a report with the Bergin Police Station, stating that he had discovered the remains of a young man in an isolated desert stretch, with no identification documents. In response, a security mobilization was ordered from the Bergin Police Station, reinforced by the Western Shati Protection Force. Prosecutors ordered the thorough documentation of the body’s condition and the collection of all physical evidence that might lead to determining the exact cause of death.
The field featured close cooperation with the Libyan Red Crescent’s Al-Shati branch, which played a key role in the recovery and transport of the remains in accordance with established legal and humanitarian protocols. This collaboration highlights the high level of synergy between security agencies and relief organizations when managing sensitive criminal findings. Following the geographical and technical survey of the site, the body was transported to the morgue at Bergin General Hospital to await an official autopsy.
