The Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) announced that the tugboat “Misrata” has departed its port, heading toward the shores of Zuwara to join the response teams dealing with the Russian gas tanker “Arctic Metagaz.” According to the MFZ, the tugboat is manned by a specialized crew of nine engineers and technicians, reflecting the zone’s commitment to maritime safety and its capacity for rapid response to emergencies.
This deployment is conducted in full coordination with operations rooms and relevant authorities, including the Coast Guard and Port Security, to ensure maximum safety levels. The MFZ emphasized that it is utilizing all its technical and human resources to support national efforts during this period, noting that the “Misrata,” built in 2023, is one of the most advanced and operationally efficient tugboats currently in service at the port.
The Misrata Free Zone highlighted that its dedicated operations room is monitoring the tanker’s situation around the clock. This continuous oversight aims to ensure swift intervention and seamless coordination with all stakeholders, maintaining high efficiency in managing the situation and safeguarding Libya’s territorial waters.
