Ashraf Mohammed Al-Taeb, Director of International Cooperation at the Government of National Unity, met with the Greek Ambassador to Libya, Ioannis Papameletiou, to advance bilateral relations with a specific focus on investment and economic sectors. The discussions centered on the ongoing arrangements for a high-level Greek government delegation’s upcoming visit to Tripoli. This visit aims to connect major Greek firms with Libyan counterparts to explore partnership opportunities in trade, energy, and services.
The two officials also reviewed preparations for the Libyan-Greek Economic and Trade Forum, scheduled to take place during the delegation’s visit. The forum is a strategic platform for investors and entrepreneurs to showcase investment potential and sign cooperation agreements in vital industries. Both parties emphasized the importance of sustained technical coordination and the exchange of expertise to navigate regional economic challenges and foster a more integrated business environment.
Ambassador Papameletiou expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in facilitating the resumption of direct flights between the two countries via MedSky Airways, which commenced in late October 2025. He noted that restoring air connectivity is an important step in enhancing travel and commercial exchange, providing a direct link for businessmen and investors. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to maintaining dialogue and following up on joint projects to ensure tangible benefits for the Libyan and Greek economies.
