The UN Security Council is scheduled to convene on April 14 to deliberate on renewing measures designed to prevent the illicit export of Libyan oil. The session will also address the extension of the mandate for the Sanctions Committee’s Panel of Experts, as their current term nears its conclusion. Last year, the Council extended the oil sector protections until May 1, 2026, and set the Experts’ mandate to expire on May 15, designating April 15 as the deadline for a formal review and decision on its continuation. Additionally, on April 22, the Council will hold its regular briefing on the Libyan situation, where UN Envoy Hanna Tetteh is expected to provide a detailed report on the latest political, security, and humanitarian developments across the country.
