The Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority, in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), has commenced the implementation of a large-scale campaign to distribute food baskets to Sudanese families residing in Marj. This step comes in response to directives from the General Command and with direct support from the Libyan government.

This humanitarian initiative aims to alleviate the difficult living conditions faced by Sudanese families in the city. In this context, Salem Buaamer, Director of the Authority’s branch in Marj, explained that the food aid distribution is organized and well-structured, noting that some beneficiary families are receiving this assistance for the third consecutive time, and new lists including other needy families have recently been added to the plan of beneficiaries’ number expansion.

. For his part, Anas Al-Fallah, the WFP project manager in Libya, emphasized the importance of providing food as one of the basic needs that the Authority strives to meet sustainably for needy families. He pointed out that this humanitarian project also includes a vital health component, which involves conducting regular check-ups to monitor and assess nutrition levels among children and pregnant women within the beneficiary families, in addition to distributing essential nutritional supplements to improve their overall health conditions.
