Libyan Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hammad held an official meeting with Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich as part of his visit to the Republic of Belarus.
From the Belarusian side, the meeting was attended by Sergey Benevrazh, Director General of the Belarusian Oil Industries and the Foreign Oil Investment Corporation. The Libyan delegation included Mohamed Abdelkader, Minister of Industry and Minerals; Jibril Al-Badri, Head of the National Development Authority; and Omar Al-Bassir, Head of the National Mining Corporation.
The meeting focused on prospects for developing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for expanding cooperation in vital sectors. This specifically included maintenance and modernisation of seaports, with an emphasis on Tobruk port to enhance its operational efficiency and facilitate maritime trade. The discussion also covered investment opportunities in establishing a new oil refinery to support Libya’s energy sector and national economy.
During the meeting, the Libyan Prime Minister emphasised the importance of strengthening partnership with Belarus to serve mutual interests and open broader horizons for investment and knowledge transfer in the fields of industry, energy, and infrastructure.
For his part, the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister welcomed cooperation with Libya, praising the significance of this visit as a new beginning for relations between the two countries. He affirmed his country’s readiness to provide necessary facilities and support priority projects for the Libyan side
