Mohamed al-Menfi, head of the Presidential Council, received a high-level delegation from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli. The delegation was led by Dutch Deputy Foreign Minister Marsal de Vink, and the meeting was attended by Ambassador Varima Moafi, responsible for the Libyan file, in addition to the Netherlands’ Ambassador to Libya, Joost Klaarenbeek.
The meeting focused on discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, with an emphasis on prospects for developing ties in the political, economic, and security sectors, serving the mutual interests of both Libya and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The two sides also reviewed the latest developments on the Libyan scene and means of supporting the ongoing political process, alongside the upcoming electoral milestones. The discussion also covered transitional justice and human rights issues, and enhanced cooperation in sustainable development.
During the meeting, Menfi affirmed the Presidential Council’s keenness to engage with international partners and build relationships based on mutual respect. He also lauded the Netherlands’ role in supporting efforts for stability and peace in Libya.
