US Presidential Advisor for Middle East and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, praised Libya’s agreement on a unified national budget for the first time in 13 years. This followed months of American diplomatic mediation aimed at bolstering political and economic stability.
Boulos stated the agreement between East and West factions came after resolving administrative disputes, which will enhance economic stability, the Dinar’s value, and purchasing power, while supporting the Central Bank’s monetary policy.
He noted that the budget will fund development nationwide and ensure energy sector financing through the National Oil Corporation to increase production and revenues.
The US official reaffirmed Washington’s support for international efforts and political tracks to prepare for elections, coordinating with the UN mission and Envoy Hanna Tetteh’s roadmap. Boulos called this an important step toward a settlement serving the public interest.
