The Misrata Free Zone Port Customs Center successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a shipment of highly dangerous psychotropic substances hidden inside a container arriving from India.

The operation commenced following receiving intelligence in the customs center, leading to the meticulous tracking of the shipment upon its arrival. Inspection efforts led to the discovery of 300 cartons containing “Pregabalin” tablets (locally known as “Lyrica”), totaling approximately 4.5 million pills. The organized packaging of the shipment highlighted the scale of the threat posed to public health.

The seizure was executed through high-level security coordination involving the Misrata East Primary Prosecution, the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Prosecution, and support from the Misrata Joint Operations Force. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution to complete investigations.
