The Libyan government expressed its hope that the new UN envoy, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, will carry out her duties in a way that reflects the positive role entrusted to the UN mission and that she will support all Libyan efforts to resolve the crisis and prevent any attempts to undermine them.
Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hamad affirmed in his statement his hope that the new envoy, as the tenth head of the UN mission, will adopt a new and practical approach to providing the necessary support to all parties and dealing with everyone on an equal footing.
Hamad welcomed the new envoy, expressing his hope that she would distance herself from the policies followed by previous heads of the mission, which – according to the statement – harmed the nature of the work of the Security Council in particular, and the United Nations in general, as their interests were their motive during the performance of their duties.
The Libyan government affirmed its adherence to its firm position regarding the right of Libyans to end all forms of division through an exclusive Libyan-Libyan dialogue, which embodies the sincere national desire to reunite Libyans on a common ground and reject any external dictations that do not serve the interests of Libya and its people.
