The Abu Salim branch of the Municipal Guard has issued an urgent notice to shops, markets, and retail outlets within the municipality, banning the sale, display, or circulation of any products or promotional materials linked to New Year’s or Christmas celebrations.
The directive covers clothing, hats, gifts, decorations, sweets, and all related advertising items. The authority emphasized that only Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are recognized as religious holidays for Muslims, and promoting other occasions is considered a violation of religious doctrine and community values.
The Municipal Guard stated that the ban is grounded in governing laws and regulations, warning that violators will face legal measures, including administrative detention, confiscation of prohibited goods, and temporary or permanent shop closures. The move is intended to safeguard Islamic identity and uphold social values within Abu Salim municipality.
