Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, received Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and his delegation, in the presence of Deputy Commander-in-Chief General Saddam Haftar, Assistant Commander-in-Chief General Bassem Al-Buaishi, and Secretary-General General Khairi Al-Tamimi. The meeting focused on strengthening historical and economic ties between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of developing partnerships in education, culture, and the economy.
The Greek Minister expressed Athens’ commitment to broadening cooperation, highlighting the interest of Greek firms in reconstruction and infrastructure projects. He also discussed enhancing academic ties with the University of Benghazi and establishing maritime routes to facilitate trade. Furthermore, both sides addressed the issue of illegal migration, stressing the necessity of joint coordination to tackle this challenge, ensure regional stability, and serve mutual interests.
