The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has officially announced that Schlumberger (SLB) will now operate as an independent entity in Libya under the name (LIG). This strategic shift detaches its operations from the North Africa regional management, reinstating the organizational structure that existed before 2011. This transition aligns with the NOC’s broader directives to optimize performance efficiency and increase operational flexibility within the Libyan oil and gas market.

This decision serves as a strategic maneuver designed to accelerate production growth and ensure a rapid response to the Corporation’s long-term objectives. Furthermore, it aims to solidify Libya’s reputation as a reliable energy supplier and a favorable environment for international investments. The NOC expressed its appreciation for the collaborative efforts with SLB leadership, noting that this newfound independence sends a clear international signal regarding the recovery of the sector and its resilience in overcoming challenges.
