Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taher al-Baour, held a consultative meeting with Somalia’s Foreign Minister, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. This meeting was part of the diplomatic momentum in Tripoli as it hosted delegations for the official reactivation of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) headquarters.
The talks focused on advancing Libyan-Somali cooperation across various sectors, exploring mechanisms to expand partnerships in priority areas. Both ministers emphasized the importance of continuous coordination to build solid relations that promote stability, particularly given the security and political challenges facing the region.
The two officials also reviewed the latest regional and international developments. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain ongoing consultations to push bilateral ties toward broader horizons that serve the aspirations of both brotherly nations.
This activity, linked to the return of CEN-SAD institutions to Tripoli, reflects Libya’s commitment to strengthening its regional presence and activating communication with member states to build strategic partnerships. Relations with Somalia are of particular importance due to similarities in security and development files, providing opportunities to exchange expertise in addressing shared challenges.
