The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced the successful arrival of the first liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker at Marsa al-Brega port since 2017. This milestone reflects a strategic revival of operational activities and a boost to domestic supply capabilities.

According to an official statement, the tanker “Gas Houston” docked carrying approximately 1,000 metric tons of cooking gas (equivalent to nearly 11,300 barrels). This shipment is designated to meet local market demands and is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the continuity and stability of fuel supplies across the country.
The resumption of these operations was carried out under the direct supervision and guidance of Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of the NOC Board of Directors. It involved close coordination between Brega Petroleum Marketing Company and Sirte Oil Company for Production and Processing of Oil and Gas, with the arrival attended by key industry officials and specialists.
This success follows extensive infrastructure maintenance and upgrades conducted by Sirte Oil Company teams. The technical overhaul included the restoration of gas storage tanks (TK 1255 and TK 1256), the renewal of loading and return pipelines, and the modernization of trailer systems. Furthermore, technical modifications were implemented to enhance safety standards at the loading sites.

The NOC emphasized that restarting gas tanker receptions after a nine-year stoppage is a clear indicator of the success of its rehabilitation plans for vital facilities. These efforts aim to increase operational efficiency, support the stability of the energy sector, and strengthen the national economy.
