The Minister of Sports for the Government of National Unity, Fuad Barghash, met with the President of the Libyan Paralympic Committee, Khaled al-Rugaibi, at the ministry’s headquarters. The discussions aimed at tracking the committee’s current status and exploring methods to advance Paralympic sports in Libya. The meeting also addressed the primary challenges anticipated in the upcoming period and the necessary interventions to ensure continued progress.
During the session, the committee president outlined ongoing activities and programs, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced support for athletes with disabilities. He highlighted that providing essential resources is vital for both domestic training and international competitions, ensuring that Libyan athletes can represent their nation effectively and achieve their professional aspirations on the global stage.
The two parties examined upcoming sporting events, stressing the importance of early preparation to prevent the recurrence of past absences caused by funding shortages. The dialogue also covered the committee’s strategic roadmap, including plans to establish specialized clubs for people with disabilities and broaden the scope of sports participation. Discussions further explored sports investment opportunities, such as attracting corporate sponsors and a proposed partnership with the Social Security Fund.
Minister Barghash reaffirmed his commitment to the Paralympic Committee, pledging to resolve existing difficulties and strengthen its programs.
