Massad Boulos, the U.S. Presidential Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, stated that the “Flintlock 2026” maneuvers represent a vital stride toward fostering internal military cohesion and bolstering regional security cooperation. He characterized the event as a significant milestone in the ongoing process of establishing unified military and security apparatuses in Libya.
In a post on the X platform, Boulos commended Libya for hosting these multinational exercises, highlighting that the joint participation of forces from both the east and west reflects a serious commitment to military unification. He noted that the leadership roles assumed by Libyan officers during these drills help build the essential foundations for unified institutions, which are indispensable for securing lasting national peace and stability.
Boulos extended his congratulations to General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Abdul Salam al-Zoubi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, for their joint leadership of this critical exercise. He praised their efforts in ensuring the success of the drills and reiterated that the United States remains dedicated to supporting such initiatives. He emphasized that Washington will continue to enhance cooperation with Libyan forces capable of contributing to regional stability, in alignment with international security objectives.
