Adel Omar al-Qaryu, head of the Libyan General Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, has officially announced that he will not seek re-election, marking the end of a successful leadership era. Al-Qaryu stated that his decision aims to pave the way for new leadership to drive the sport’s future development. He highlighted that the federation concludes its current term in a strong financial position, with all accounts legally settled and entirely free of any outstanding debts or financial obligations.
Reflecting on his presidency, al-Qaryu pointed to significant international achievements for Libyan athletes, infrastructure improvements, and the professional development of referees and coaches. Under his leadership, the federation strengthened its presence within Arab, African, and international bodies while fostering vital partnerships with the private sector. He concluded by offering his full support and consultancy to the incoming board, ensuring that the sport’s stability and the momentum of recent successes are maintained for the next generation.
