The International Economic Forum in the Russian city of Kazan featured Libyan presence, with High State Council President Mohamed Takala taking part in the event alongside an official delegation that included council members Massoud Obeid and Abdalati Abuktef. The participation came in response to an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to explore avenues of partnership and development.
During the forum’s proceedings, Takala issued a call to deepen scientific and academic cooperation between Russia and Islamic nations, emphasizing that building robust research partnerships serves as a critical cornerstone for ensuring future progress, regional stability, and advancing knowledge-driven and innovative development strategies.
In this context, the council head highlighted the historical contribution of Russian universities, which have successfully trained and graduated thousands of students from across the Islamic world over the decades in essential disciplines like medicine, engineering, and applied sciences, thereby directly enhancing institutional capacities and expertise within their home countries.
He concluded by noting that such collaboration goes far beyond the mere exchange of information, playing a pivotal role in fostering deeper cultural understanding and human connections between societies. Investing in education and scientific research, he added, remains the most viable path toward achieving sustainable development goals and empowering future generations.
