The Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) has announced the completion of Project O-93 at al-Sarir oilfield, marked by the successful commissioning of a surge tank (T-02) at the field’s main complex to bolster production stability and upgrade midstream infrastructure.
The company confirmed that the tank was brought back online on Friday, in alignment with the National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) directives to maximize output. The reactivation followed guidance from Management Committee Chairman Mohamed Belgacem Ben Shatwan and instructions from Committee Member for Operations, Maintenance, and Refineries, Abdulmutalib Adam.
AGOCO explained that the operationalization of the surge tank will directly expand crude oil storage capacity at the field. The scope of Project O-93 also encompassed the rehabilitation of firefighting water tank T-05, which was previously restored in November 2021, thereby concluding the entire venture.
The operator noted that the project encountered significant technical and financial bottlenecks during execution; however, the combined efforts of the maintenance, operations, engineering, and HSE teams, alongside support departments at al-Sarir, facilitated the successful reinstatement of these vital assets.
