For the second consecutive year, Libya has assumed the presidency of the 64th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly. Represented by Minister of Health Dr. Ramadan Abu Janah, Libya led the session amid high-level attendance from Arab health ministers, delegations from the League of Arab States, officials from the World Health Organization, and various regional healthcare institutions.
At the outset of the sessions, Arab health ministers commended Libya for its exceptional organization and hosting of the previous 63rd session. Participants emphasized that Libya’s efforts reflect its steadfast commitment to fostering joint Arab action in the medical sector, while highlighting the critical need for continued coordination to address pressing health challenges and upgrade therapeutic and medical cooperation mechanisms across the region.
The session focused on aligning Arab stances within international health forums and reviewing the critical healthcare situations in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan. Furthermore, the council examined strategies to enhance medical services, develop healthcare infrastructure, and expand external partnerships, particularly focusing on bolstering healthcare cooperation and expertise exchange with India.
