With high-level international attendance from heads of state, governments, diplomatic missions, and regional and UN bodies, the 13th session of the World Urban Forum commenced this Monday in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, with the participation of Libya’s Presidential Council Chairman, Mohamed al-Menfi.
According to the Presidential Council’s media office, this edition features an unprecedented milestone in the forum’s history: the launch of the “Leaders’ Summit” proposed by the host nation, Azerbaijan. This summit brings together political leaders and key decision-makers to exchange strategic visions for the future of cities, foster international partnerships in housing and urban growth, and reaffirm a collective commitment to the New Urban Agenda.
The international summit is scheduled to conclude with a final declaration titled the “Baku Call for Action,” which will outline a set of recommendations and initiatives aimed at updating sustainable urban policies and deepening global cooperation to address urban expansion challenges and achieve comprehensive development.
