Deputy Prime Minister Salem al-Zadma held a meeting with Ulrika Richardson, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, to discuss the current situation in southern Libya and review ways to enhance support for local communities. The discussions focused heavily on advancing local development priorities and strengthening joint coordination to ensure that aid and resources reach the most vulnerable groups.
The two sides highlighted the importance of establishing balanced development across the country, emphasizing the fair distribution of resources, the enhancement of local governance, and the expansion of opportunities for youth and various social and cultural components in the south. The meeting also addressed methods to upgrade basic public services, including healthcare, education, water, energy, and food security, as essential pillars for building resilience and generating sustainable employment opportunities for both men and women.
Concluding their talks, both parties reaffirmed the necessity of adhering strictly to human rights principles as an organizing framework when implementing humanitarian and developmental support for displaced persons and the most vulnerable segments of society.
