A delegation from the Government of National Unity’s Ministry of Justice met with Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs on the sidelines of the 14th Libyan-Egyptian Joint Consular Committee in Tripoli to discuss strengthening judicial cooperation.


The talks focused on developing mechanisms for executing judicial commissions and enforcing rulings issued in both nations. This aims to improve legal coordination and streamline judicial procedures between the two sides.
The meeting also addressed the status of citizens serving sentences in each other’s prisons, emphasizing the importance of monitoring their conditions and upholding their rights. Furthermore, they discussed a draft prisoner exchange agreement, which is currently under review by the Egyptian authorities.

Halima Ibrahim, the Minister of Justice for the Government of National Unity, affirmed the government’s commitment to fostering fraternal ties between Libya and Egypt. She highlighted the need to advance judicial cooperation to achieve justice and serve the mutual interests of both countries.
